- Why is a close up used to show the small leather sack being placed in a palm?
it is used to see who is taking the small leather sack and how they are treating it, signifying its importance. It also gives detail as to what the leather sack looks like, also to do with how important it is. - What does POV stand for?
Point Of View - Why would a director want to use a POV shot?
To view what the character is looking at, so that the audience get a feel of what he/she/it is going through or looking at. It is to see how and what the character would see. - When BB-8 enters frantically, how could a director show that the robot is frantic and that Poe is concerned?
The directer could show that the robot is frantic as BB-8 could be moving from side to side quickly as he enters suddenly and frantically and beeping a lot, high pitched and frequently, which could be the robot's way of talking. Poe is concerned as he turns to Lor San Tekka for help as he doesn't know how to deal with the situation and is concerned with the outcome of the situation. - What does it mean by “push in on his unnerved eyes”?
The camera would slowly move forward the camera to a close up of Poe's eyes, to show detail as to what his expression is. Here he is unnerved, which means he is losing confidence in the situation. - How can the “growing, frightening thunder” be symbolic?
It could be foreshadowing what is about to happen. It is "growing, frightening thunder" which mean something terrible and fatal could happen in the near future, as thunder does not come suddenly, therefore it could take a while for this bad thing to happen. - What would “TRACK FAST with Poe as he and BB-8 hurry through the village” look like?
This would look like the camera is running alongside Poe and BB-8 running. This shows all the detail and how fast and how long they are running. - How could the director/editor make the part where stormtroopers are firing on Poe in his ship feel exciting?
The directer could use a range of different and fast-paced shots of Poe, the Stormtroopers and the surrounding eery atmosphere so that the audience can see what is about to happen to Poe and how fast the Stormtroopers are approaching, ready to fire. The editor could put some fast paced music to make it more dramatic and exciting. - Why do you think flamethrowers have been included?
Flamethrowers have been included to add more tension and drama to the scene. It adds tension as it puts more pressure on Poe to get out of this attack and draws the audience in as they want to see what happens to Poe. - Identify an example of where you would use a long shot in this scene, and explain why you would use it. I would use a long shot in the scene when Poe fires at the Stormtroopers and to see what and how he is firing, as well as to see the attack travel through the air. I would put this in slow motion when I am editing to add tension.
- Identify an example of where you would use an extreme close up in this scene, and explain why you would use it.
I would use a extreme close up in this scene when "Lor San Tekka moves sadly through the village" during the Stormtroopers attack. i would make sure that the fire can be seen below his face to show what he is looking at and I would use it to show the emotion he is going through watching this village being destroyed while he cannot do anything about it.
